 | A dynamic new Design District is emerging in the neighborhood generally bounded by Anaheim Street, 14th Street, Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue. Over the past few years, an influx of private investment from graphic design studios, architectural firms, construction management services, branding engineers and product development firms have located in the area, organically forming the Long Beach Design District. Agency staff has been collaborating with the district community to develop an action plan for future area improvements.

 | On Friday, February 20, 2009 the Redevelopment Agency installed “Orange Twist," a large sculpture on the Atlantic Avenue median at 45th Place in North Long Beach. The Agency invested $104,000 in this work of public art, which will remain on permanent display at the location. The sculpture is made of a stone-like material and is 12 feet long and 9 feet wide. The Orange Twist sits atop a granite base, and is part of the RDA's commercial corridor revitalization project in the area. (Photo courtesy of Blair Cohn)

 | In October 2008, the RDA entered into a partnership with Phantom Galleries Los Angeles (PGLA) to activate vacant storefronts throughout Downtown Long Beach and install public art in various mediums. PGLA has now launched several exhibits throughout various locations. Exhibits are on display on a rotating basis throughout Long Beach. (
